Our lifestyles directly influence how we live our lives.

In the end when we are able to manage our behavior and habits, we will have more control over our lives.

In the book “Atomic Habits” James Clear writes in his book “Atomic Habits”:

“The quality of our lives depends on the quality of our habits.”

You may be a student, freelance writer, CEO, an entrepreneur, or even a child who attends school, your lifestyles determine who you are.

Every single day.

They can empower them or prevent you from getting what you want throughout your life.

Here are ten easy ways to aid you in understanding the steps to success. These habits are making an impact on my life, and could change yours as well.

How to Be Successful in Life – Tip #1: Do What Others Don’t Want to Do

This is possibly the most effective advice on how to be successful in your career.

A good friend I have, Lisa relocated to Paris for work in the last year. In the beginning, she was having a hard time at work and trying to meet new people since she didn’t speak French.

But, she was determined to study French and to practice the language as much as she could. Therefore, she began searching for beginning French worksheets on the internet, attending meetings in the evening and taking an intensive class every weekend.

In the end She learned French in just six months. Impressive, right?

I admire people just like the person I have as a friend Lisa.

I read once on EfficaceMente which is a fantastic Italian personal development website, that the thing successful people typically share are this they do things that others would rather not do.

To put it in another way, if you want to achieve success in your field the most basic habit you can build is to be doing better than what other people (your friends or rivals) are doing.

Do you do the things that people tend to put off or delay.

Keep in mind:

“If someone settles for less than they deserve or doesn’t want to make an effort to achieve what they want, it doesn’t mean you have to do the same.”

Take the extra mile to make yourself stand out from the crowd. Sometimes all requires is some more determination. Like Jerry Rice, one of the most successful American footballers of all time has said:

“Today I will do what others won’t, so tomorrow I will do what others can’t.”

How to be successful in life – Tip #2: Create your list of habits that are slowing you down

A lot of us engage in unhealthy habits, but unfortunately.

These habits have the potential to prevent us from what we desire. They take up our time and energy more than we be aware of.

To stop bad habits from dominating your life, a great option is to pinpoint and record all things that slow your progress and taking up your time.

In the report that was published by Inc., anything you’re taking time to do that doesn’t align in the direction of your longer-term objectives or your vision for yourself should be on this list.

Have you checked your phone often? Do you have too many “long breaks” during the day?

Making a list of the things that are consuming your energy and timeand then proactively avoiding anything which is listed is a great method to gain more power over what you do.

A good illustration of an to-do list:

  • Don’t look at your stats or your metrics.
  • Beware of social media between 9 am until 1 pm
  • Social media is not available usage between 2 5 pm and 2
  • Beware of personal calls between 9 am until 1 pm.
  • No food available between 9 am and 1 pm
  • Do not watch the TV before going to going to bed
  • Do not redirect conversations to me the every time I go out with my buddies
  • Do not eat unhealthy food items from Monday through Saturday
  • No alcohol consumption from Sunday until Friday

How to Be Successful in Life – Tip #3: Focus on the Circle of Influence

One of my most favored Self-improvement and self-development books are the 7 habits of highly effective People by Stephen Covey.

If you’ve never been to it, I strongly recommend it.

One thing I discovered in this book that has helped me change my thinkingmy thinking, be more productiveand use more time and energy doing useless work.

The idea I’m referring to is called the Circle of Influence.

According to Covey the research suggests that There are two different areas in which we can put our attention and focus.

The first one of concern is the circle of Concern.

It is comprised of all the things that could be affecting us in some way however we are unable to completely manage.

For instance things that belong to this group could be something like what our friends are thinking about your neighbors’ opinion on the market for stocks, you name it.

The other can be described as Our Circle of Influenceand it represents what we have control over.

We can, for instance, decide when we get up and how long we choose to devote to something important and how much to invest, how often every week we workout and consume, the amount of water we drink, and so on.

The benefits of focusing on your Circle of Influence

As you might imagine, if you put aside all things associated with the Circle of Concern and you begin to focus solely at the circle of influence you’ll begin to gain greater power over what you do.

You’ll be able to get more accomplished — and you will feel more content and less anxious.

People who are proactive focus attention on their Circle of Influence. They focus on issues they can take action on.
— Stephen Covey

Once I had a firm grasp of this idea, it helped me realize where I was spending my energy and what circle the circleI was focusing my attention.

Naturally, the development of this habit made me better at my job and also less stressed .

How to Be Successful in Life – Tip #4: Work in Micro-Shifts

The best method for doing this is to follow the same principles of the Pomodoro Method, finding the ideal duration for your shift.

In reality the majority of successful people employ this strategy.

If you’re not familiar with it the Pomodoro Method was invented by the Italian businessman Francesco Cirillo in the 80s and is a method of time management that involves working in short shifts of 25 minutes of concentrated workwhich means completely uninterrupted -and with only small breaks.

Every break lasts from three to five minutes.

The method was named for the timer in the kitchen that Cirillo employed, which was the shape of tomatoes — ” Pomodoro”in Italian.

The advantages of this time management method are numerous:

  • It can help reduce distractions.
  • It helps you be more productive and can help you get things done.
  • Regular breaks help prevent fatigue and keeps you active and focused;
  • You can evaluate your work and get an idea of the time you’ve spent on your work.

Alternatives to the Pomodoro Technique

After trying this technique for some time I realized that I could modify it to my own rhythm. Then I looked into other options.

I divided my daily work into thirty-minute and forty-minute time blocks, and took longer breaks. I also tried 10-minute shifts.

After experimenting with various options I came up with my ideal shift time.

Nowadays, I work in 15-minute blockswithout interruptions and without distractionsI also take a 3-minute break between.

It allows me to be more efficient and also get more tasks accomplished without burning myself out.

The duration of a period of time is an individual.

Therefore, you can try various blocks to find the best layout.

How to Be Successful in Life – Tip #5: Don’t Make Your Bed in the Morning

Let me explain.

You’ve probably come upon this article already:

” Make your bed, first thing in the morning.”

It is said to be beneficial for your mental well-being and productivity, since it allows you to complete the first task of your day and establishes the tone for your entire day.

According to Admiral William McRaven:

“If you put your feet up each day, you be able to complete the first task for the morning. It will give you a tiny feeling of pride, and it will motivate you to complete another job as well.”

I like it when you start your day by completing a simple task. It’s real this sets the mood for the remainder of your day and helps you become more productive.

It stimulates your body and mind.

But, getting into bed immediately after getting up may not be the most beneficial thing you can do to maintain your physical well-being.

According to an study by Kingston University, making your bed at the beginning of the day could improve your mental health however, it could be detrimental to the health to your overall health since it traps dust mites.

I do not know about you I’m not sure if I want to be around these frenzies for more than eight hours every night.

When you make your bed each morning, it helps create an environment that is humid for dust mites. Opening the windows and leaving your sheets open will kill the mites.

What can I do instead?

Therefore, I typically make my bed at the beginning of my day for about a few hours, then pick a quick task that is less than five seconds — begin my day.

Most of the time, I just open my windows and letting the fresh air in, or washing my bedroom floor or cleaning my kitchen or cleaning my desk. There are endless possibilities.

Pick what’s best for you. Most importantly , pick the one or two activities that will help create the mood for the remainder of your day.

Do not do your bed at the beginning of the day, instead pick a different task to complete in the morning.

How to Be Successful in Life – Tip# 6: Show Genuine Curiosity in Others by Using Follow-up Questions

If you’re looking to understand how to succeed then you must know how to interact with others.

As I’ve said there are many who are adept at making use of conversations starting points and identifying interesting topics to discuss but very few are adept at engaging in deep discussions and showing an genuine curiosity about what they are talking about.

Follow-up questions are the questions that you could ask when you would like to learn the details of what someone is saying to you, or to learn more about them.

This makes conversations more profound.

Through them, you do not just display a genuine concern for other people, but according to one piece that was published by Harvard Business Review it also helps you understand the person better and urge them to provide more information about what they’re currently discussing.

When you follow up with questions, you’ll also be doing what most people do not that is keep the attention on the other personthe majority of people prefer to divert conversations back towards them.

This could make your name stick out from the crowd.

7th Tip: Don’t attend meetings and calls with no clear agenda or End Time

I don’t know about others but I can’t endure long, endless meetings that don’t have a clearly defined agenda.

As per Tim Ferris, it is important to avoid meetings with no specific agenda or ending time.

Particularly, he said that:

“If the desired outcome is defined clearly with a stated objective and agenda listing topics/questions to cover, no meeting or call should last more than 30 minutes.”

He says that the best way to go about it is to ask for the agenda that includes the topics and questions you want to be addressed ahead of time.

This will allow you to prepare and make the most of the time scheduled.

Tip #8: Eliminate Small Decisions

The elimination of small decisions, like what you’ll wear for the day will help you save mental energy.

Like Caroline Klatt mentioned in an interview published in Inc:

“Throughout the duration of the day you’re faced with a myriad of choices. Some are small, like the music you’ll listen to when you’re getting dressed and others are more significant for example, such as how to manage an emergency at work. In the end, your brain will reach decision fatigue, which reduces the quality of the choices you make.”

In addition, as per the piece that was published by Forbes, Zuckerberg mentioned several occasions that he’d rather utilize his mind to determine the best way to serve billions of people instead of being focused on the tiny and insignificant.

To make better decisions and be able to avoid becoming fatigued from decisionsremove the tiny decisions.

Make a list of the foods you’ll eat throughout the week. Keep a note of the outfits you will wear throughout the week, too.

If you are able to get up at night, prepare the outfit you plan to wear the next day. You can also prepare your lunch.

Tip #9: Practice Walking Meditation

Meditation has changed my life. When someone is suffering from anxiety or stress, I would recommend it and discuss its benefits.

The majority times I hear my reaction is something like this:

“Sira I’m not able to have the time to sit still and concentrate on the moment at hand. I cannot .”

If you’re similar to me, I know how you feel. When I meditate, I have trouble focusing too. It’s totally normal.

It’s easy to meditate however it’s not.

Being stationary and focusing solely on the present and on your breath could be challenging.

One method to make meditation less daunting is to do it while walking.

The practice of walking assists you in letting go completely and relieve stress.

It aids in establishing the connection between your body and your mind and improves the ability of your mind to concentrate.

How I do it

My practice is taking a stroll in the fresh air while listening to some good meditation music. While doing it I attempt to stay fully present in the moment as I breathe deeply and concentrate on my step.

Sometimes, I mix the two with my theta beeps..

After I’ve done this, I am just as great as if I had done sitting meditation.

After having practiced it for a while I realized that I didn’t have to deal with insomnia or anxiety any more.

Tip #10: Ask Someone to Hide Your Phone (or Hide It Yourself)

While at my time at the university I had a close friendnamed Giulia she was very productive.

In our final semester she was able to complete a complex Marketing test in just two days.

A few days ago, I was having lunch with her, and I asked her what she would do to accomplish this. She offered me this advice.

If you’re working or studying, you can hide your cell phone behind your laptop.

“Why should I keep the phone behind my computer?” I wondered. But I considered giving it a shot.

That afternoon, I was studying for a couple of hourstaking small break to recharge. Also, I kept my phone concealed behind my laptop so that I wouldn’t be able to be able to see it.

Then I understood. This simple advice helped me get rid of my biggest distraction and desire — my mobile. Also, it helped me remain focused for many hours.

But, over the next days, I noticed that I was still tempted to look at my phone every now and then.

The productivity hack I learned was effective but I had something I could have improved.

Instead of putting my phone in silent mode, I required it to be kept in a place where I wouldn’t be able to easily access it.

The solution

Then I asked my mother to keep my phone in a separate room so that I wouldn’t be able to locate it. I did this every time I was in class.

This simple habit has helped me increase my productivity. I was able to finally get rid of the necessity of checking the phone at least every two minutes. And, most importantly, ten years later, I had graduated.

While you’re at work or at a desk, turn your phone to silent and then ask someone you trust to secure it. Better to hide it somewhere that you won’t be able to discover it.

If you’re unable to get anyone to conceal your phone due to your home being a lonely one You can put your phone in a different area on silent.

I have tried it, and I discovered it to be the same as hiding it for you.

As per the report that appeared within the New York Times, placing the phone in a different room, or even putting it in a location where you cannot be able to see it, helps you resist the automatic urge to look it up.
